Drone Strike Hits Libya’s Zawiya Oil Refinery Tank, No Casualties

A drone struck a storage tank at Libya’s Zawiya oil refinery on Saturday, causing a leak but leaving no casualties, according to the Azzawiya Oil Refining Company.

The company said the drone hit an untreated naphtha storage tank and exploded against the wall of the facility.

The impact resulted in a leak from the tank, but refinery teams managed to bring the situation under control and stop the leakage. No fire broke out following the incident, and no injuries or deaths were reported at the site.

Company Calls for Protection of Refinery

Following the incident, the Azzawiya Oil Refining Company appealed to all parties to keep its facilities away from clashes and armed activity.

The company stressed the importance and sensitive nature of the refinery, its equipment and its operations.

It said protecting workers and facilities while ensuring the continuation of production remains a top priority.

The company also called on the relevant authorities to take necessary measures to safeguard employees and infrastructure and prevent threats that could undermine security and stability at the refinery and surrounding areas.
